Project Milestone
We are proud to announce the successful completion of the MedTSO Identification of optimal System Needs (IoSN) project, a key initiative for Mediterranean energy infrastructure planning.
Our Contribution
CampusTech delivered the technical modelling and analysis for the project using Antares and Antares Xpansion, two leading open-source power system simulation tools. Our team built detailed network models, ran extensive scenario analyses, and identified optimal reinforcement strategies for the Mediterranean interconnected grid.
Tools & Methodology
Antares was used for detailed hourly power system simulations across multiple climate years, while Antares Xpansion enabled investment optimisation to determine the most cost-effective transmission expansion pathways. Together, these tools provided robust, transparent results grounded in open-source methodology.
Impact
The IoSN study supports MedTSO's mission to coordinate transmission system development across the Mediterranean region, helping to integrate renewable energy sources, improve security of supply, and facilitate cross-border electricity trade.
